Project summary:

The aim of the project was to contribute to the protection of the environment and the sustainable use of natural resources in the cross-border region, through the practical implementation of measures and actions leading to reducing carbon emissions and promoting energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy sources and "green" technologies.
Key actions of the project were the development of a charter for joint cross-border policies for low-carbon economy and the creation of joint cross-border networks for monitoring implementation and, with the active participation of representatives of municipalities, companies, public institutions and relevant NGOs in 9 cross-border municipalities. At the start of the project, initial information on carbon emissions was collected and an analysis of the current situation in the region was prepared, monitoring of the quality of PM10 pollutants (dust particles) in the air, nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone and carbon monoxide. In addition, the project has jointly developed a system for coordination and exchange of experience and information between the municipalities under the project, as well as joint seminars and training tours in the two regions of the project. A wide-ranging public information campaign has been launched on climate change and the importance of reducing carbon emissions in the air, raising awareness of the issue and improving public debate on the issue.
The impact of the project is aimed at the joint protection and monitoring of natural resources, as well as at creating a precondition for sustainable development of the cross-border region. The joint policy for low-carbon economy has contributed to the sustainable development of the cross-border region, and the implementation of the project - to the establishment of direct contacts between local actors in the two regions, to exchange experiences, good practices and ideas for future partnership.
