A culture heritage - friendly tourism in cross-border region Bulgaria - Macedonia

The project will be focused on District of Kyustendil and North-East region. A serious weakness in tourism development on the both sides of the border is the absence of a systematic common effort to the valorization and promotion of the cultural heritage aims its joint tourist interpretation and usage. Тhe project will elaborate a cross-border strategy for a heritage-friendly tourism environment and creating the cross-border framework for supporting tourism sector to adopt and implement joint strategies for common tourist interpretation and usage of cultural heritage.
Joint cross-border events will be organized that will aim to tackle the strengthening of the human resources for implement of common solutions to the challenges and opportunities for development of heritage-friendly tourism in the CB area. The strategy is based on: development of the worked cross-border strategy for developing a heritage-friendly tourism environment – a framework for guiding, volunteer regulation and recognition of sustainably using cultural heritages; an information and training phase including cross-border events in order to build capacities and to improve the knowledge and practical skills of the human resources of target local tourist communities in target regions, training sessions and recognition; a pilot implementation phase including realization of pilot culture heritage-friendly activities in the tourist business and alternative and innovative tools for promotion and valorization of cultural heritage in the target cross-border region.
