Affirmation of the natural and cultural values in the border region for better visibility and access

Activities under the project
The project aimed to establish sustainable cooperation between Municipality of Gevgelija and Bansko Economic Development Agency, based on the implementation of initiatives in the field of tourism related to better conservation and sustainable use of the rich natural and cultural heritage in the cross-border region. Activities contributed to enhancing economic cooperation, improving knowledge and experience in developing and implementing joint projects and raising public awareness of the benefits of cross-border initiatives. The project stimulated the convergence of all sections of the population and built networks for business cooperation, exchange of experience and joint activities in the field of tourism, culture and ecology and provided development of year-round tourism in the cross-border region.
The project’s purpose was achieved through implementation of the following activities:

- Construction of Tourist Site "Dinkut" - a place for sport, recreation and entertainment;
- Development and support of project web site and project profile in Facebook;
- Research and Analysis of Natural and Cultural Heritage in the Cross-Border Region Gevgelija - Bansko;
- Development and support of a free mobile app for the natural and cultural heritage in the Cross-Border Region Gevgelija – Bansko;
- Creating a photo album of the natural and cultural heritage in the Cross-Border Region Gevgelija - Bansko

Project Result
Tourist site “Dinkut” in Gevgelija, was constructed, including variety of facilities and attractions for children and adults, as well as equal access for disabled people through development of facilities for access to and in the tourist site. The project ensured development of all-yearly tourism in the cross-border region, stimulated the cohesion of all population groups and built up networks for business cooperation, exchange of experience and joint activities in the field of tourism, culture and ecology. The site offered local people and tourists a wide variety of sports, relaxation and entertainment facilities to enhance the region's tourist potential and the quality of life and socio-economic status of the local population. The implementation of the project involved development of a study and analysis of the natural and cultural heritage in the cross-border region of Gevgelija - Bansko; creating a basic document for the development of mobile applications; developing a website, a mobile application for tourist information and providing information on Facebook in the field of conservation of the material and immaterial natural, historical and cultural heritage and resources in the cross-border region of Gevgelija - Bansko. The project has created conditions for the development of a regional communications network based on an innovative Android and iOS mobile application uploaded to Google Play and the App Store for free download.
